Sensor HP Untuk Pantau Infrastruktur

Kini teknologi telepon-cerdas (smartphone/HP) dapat digunakan untuk pantau sistem infrastruktur, seperti jalan rusak dan jembatan tua. Amir H. Alavi dari University of Missouri-Columbia dan William G. Buttlar, Ph.D dari Glen Barton Chair of Flexible Pavement Technology (University of Missouri-Columbia) di Amerika Serikat, mengembangkan sensor pada telepon-cerdas (TC) seperti giriskop—akselerator pengukur kecepatan—dan kamera atau sensor eksternal ukuran kecil seperti sensor infra-red untuk menentukan kondisi dan kerusakan jalan raya atau jembatan setiap saat (real-time) (Science Daily, 11/2/2019).

“Many of the existing methods to monitor our civil infrastructure systems have technical issues and are not user-centered. People are looking for smart, cost effective, scalable and user-centered approaches. With current advances in technology, people can help monitor or detect problems using their own devices, and smartphone technology allows us to do that with civil infrastructure,”  ungkap, assistant professor teknik sipil dan lingkungan pada MU College of Engineering (University of Missouri-Columbia, 11/2/2019).

Hasil riset itu dirilis oleh jurnal Future Generation Computer Systems edisi awal 2019 (Amir H. Alavi, William G. Buttlar, “An overview of smartphone technology for citizen-centered, real-time and scalable civil infrastructure monitoring”, Future Generation Computer Systems, 2019). Jika teknologi sensornya dicantelkan ke dalam telepon-cerdas, seseorang dapat mengirim datanya dari jarak-jauh ke pusat-data, sambil berkendaraan di jalanan.

Amir H. Alavi dan William G. Buttlar memperkirakan bahwa jumlah data yang dihimpun melalui teknologi sensor telepon-cerdas ini, dapat menentukan kondisi suatu jalan dan jembatan.  “Assessing roads, bridges and airfields with affordable sensors, such as those found in smartphones, really works. With a smartphone, we can stitch together many inexpensive measurements to accurately assess things like the roughness or deterioration of a road surface. In a recent project sponsored by the Missouri Department of Transportation, we also showed that it can accurately assess the condition of airport runways and taxiways,” papar William G. Buttlar (MU-Columbia, 11/2/2019).
